What this app does
Leftover Box is for “when do I eat yesterday’s stew?” Write a dish name (required), cooked-on, and eat-by. Open leftovers sort by soonest eat-by. Default eat-by is cooked-on + 3 days.
FridgeBuddy, eggg, and pecco are barcode inventory + login + AI recipe apps. This is just leftover names and eat-by dates — no barcode, SKU, nutrition, recipes, or account. Everything stays in this browser’s localStorage (`leftover-box:items:v1`).
What to enter
- Dish name (required), cooked-on (default today), eat-by (default +3 days, editable).
- Optional location: fridge / freezer / other. Optional one-line note.
- Status: open / eaten. Badges: D-2, today, overdue.
How to use it
When you have leftovers, write the name. Changing cooked-on resets eat-by to +3 days until you edit eat-by. The list sorts soonest eat-by first. Mark eaten to keep a short history.
Edit or delete any item. Export/import JSON to move devices. There is no server backup.
When people open it
People open it before opening the fridge to see what is due first. It is not a barcode milk-and-SKU inventory — it is a list of named leftovers like yesterday’s stew.
On a Sunday fridge-clear, or when picking lunch before it goes bad, the badge is enough.

Are leftovers uploaded to a server?
No. Names, dates, and notes stay in this browser’s localStorage. There is no account sync or cloud backup. On a shared device, clear site data when you are done.
Does it scan barcodes or suggest recipes?
No. There is no barcode, SKU, nutrition, or AI recipe. Just leftover names and eat-by dates.
Is it free? Are there ads?
