What this app does
Kinlog is a personal book for the people you want to keep up with. You type a name, add one line about how you met, and write notes on that person’s card. There is no Save button: notes stay on the card as you type them, and they are still there after a reload or after closing and reopening the browser.
Each card holds the date you last spoke and the date you want to speak next. Anyone past their next-contact date gets a red stamp and rises to the top of the list, so you never have to remember who you have gone quiet on.
How to use it
- Type a name and add it. A name is all it takes — no import step, no invitations, no permission prompt.
- Tap a card to open it and write notes: their kids’ names, what they like, what you talked about last time. It saves as you type.
- After a call or a meet-up, tap “talked today” and the last-contact date jumps to today.
- Set the next contact date by hand, or with the one-week, one-month and three-month buttons. Once set, the app never changes it behind your back.
- If the name escapes you, search by a word from the notes. It looks through names, the how-you-met line and the note text together.
- Sort by next contact, longest since last contact, name, or recently added. Your choice is still there the next time you open it.
What is not here
- No login and no sign-up. Open the address and you can add the first person right away.
- No credit-card screen. You never enter payment details just to try it.
- It does not ask for your address book and it never sends invitations to anyone. You type the names.
- No lock on how many people or how long the notes are, and no subscription or paid tier.
When people open it
You open it when you are scrolling your contacts at the end of the year wondering when you last saw someone. Or the morning after a catch-up where a friend mentioned their kid and you could not produce the name. It collects the things that are too personal for a work CRM and too scattered to find again in a notes app.
You do not have to fill it in all at once. One line after a call, one line the evening you got back — a few months later there is a surprising amount there about each person.
FAQ
The repeating questions are about signing up, payment, contacts permission and where things are kept. Below is the actual scope.
Do I need an account or a credit card to try it?
No. There is no account, no login, no email box and no credit-card screen. Open the address and the name field is already there — you can add the first person immediately. Nothing locks when a trial runs out, because there is no trial.
Does it read my phone’s contacts?
No. It never asks for contacts permission and never reads your address book. The only way someone enters the book is you typing their name. It also never sends invitations to anyone you know.
Do the notes disappear when I reload?
No. Notes are written to that person’s card the moment you type them. There is no Save button to forget, and they are still on the card after a reload, or after closing the browser and coming back days later. Nothing expires on a clock.
Do my next-contact settings reset after an update?
No. Next-contact dates, last-contact dates and your sort choice stay as you left them. A new version of the app does not reset them. The only thing that changes them is you.
Is anything I write uploaded to a server?
No. People, notes and contact dates stay on this device. There is no account sync, no cloud backup and no share link. The trade-off is that switching devices or clearing the browser’s site data clears them too, so keep a separate copy of anything you cannot lose. Google AdSense ads may appear.
